Just acquired a '91 200TDi Disco.

Hi & Low Range gearbox drives fine in all gears but I get no response to
engaging the difflock. No dashboard light. It doesn't seem to drive
differently with the difflock lever pushed across, although I don't want to
try this too much for fear for damage.

Any ideas how I can test to see if difflock is actually engaging, maybe just
the bulb is blown.

If the difflock is not engaging are there any simple things to try first
which might sort the problem.

Cheers,

Jonathan

Park on level ground, difflock disengaged, jack up one corner. Handbrake
off. Be careful.

Try to turn the raised wheel - it should turn. You'll see the
corresponding propshaft turning. It can do this cos centre diff isn't
locked.

Now engage difflock and do the same test. The wheel shouldn't turn.

The nut on the little lever underneath on ours had come off. (8mm I think).
