i have a 2001 freelander and i think that the diff is on its way out, i am geting slight knocking and vibration when i go round corners over 30mph. my question is, do i need to sort this out asap, or is it somethig that i can hold off for a little while. or is it something completly different. any help and information will be much appreciated

why do you think difff, there can be a host of reasons, do a search on here

could be a driveshaft or a cv joint.

When diffs go they normally make a **** load of noise when loaded and on over run, ie give it gas at a speed and let it off it should grinds and moan like fook.

Your fault sounds like a shaft.

i took it to a landy speciaist today and they gave the same answers as you did, shaft or cv joint. thanks very much for your help howardo and david.

sorry, in what way was it offensive? i was saything thank you to the people who helped me. there comments put my mind at ease. i thought i was going to have to splash out on a new diff.
