Might be a silly question but can I replace a 4 pin diff with a 2 pin on the rear of my 2000 4.6?
Thanks in advance.

Of course you can but it won't like the torque provided by the 4.6 engine specially if you tow.

I seem to recall a thread where people near the changeover year sometimes had a 2 pin but I don't know if we ever got to the bottom of whether it was original or someone had replaced it. May have been front rather than rear?

Clearly it was significant enough for Land Rover to upgrade it.

My '02 4.6 had a 2 pin diff fitted on the rear, as it was the last production run for P38 I guess LR decided to use up surplus parts. Mine failed albeit at 120k.

Glad to hear that as I have a 2 pin diff with ETC on the rear!
