Hi All

Its me the newbee again . I just want to check that the differentials have enough oil in them , not that I dont trust the garage who said he serviced it before I bought it but ! I went to take the level check plug out and it has been chewed to hell as it is plastic !, my standard 21mm socket (32 side) only will make it worse , will a six side eg snap on do it do you think , or is there a specific tool i can buy ? or what do you recommend

These always get chewed up on removal. I had to get mine out using a screw driver hammered in I think. I got brass ones off ebay but I read that B&Q sell em too as they are a standard plumbing fitting.

They are around £1.25 at B&Q plus an O ring or copper washer

Molegrips to get them out, then as discool says get some brass ones to replace them.

Plastic ones are fine if you use the correct socket, but chewed ones are a pain to get out as they are tight on the thread, deliberately, so that they cannot unscrew if not tightened up. Why they put a screwdriver slot in them I'll never know!

O ring is the same as the earlier rad drain plug, I have got some new ones at the factory, I'll post the part number.
