Hi all

I am looking at getting a 110 and want to put lockers front and rear, I have been looking and found the Detroit mechanical ones and the ARB air ones, can anyone help me all I understand at the moment is that ARB are Twice the price are they worth that or are the Detroit ones good enough? I will be using the 110 for green laneing, pay and play days an eventually a trip round the alps.

Hi, although this has been covered before, I will outline it again. Although the Detroit lockers are very good, I have heard about a lot of them breaking, especially in recent years. ARB are in fact very expensive and overpriced in my opinion but you do get the benefit of being able to completely disengage them for normal driving. Another alternative you may want to consider is the Ashcroft air locker which is very similar to the ARB and I have heard very good things about them although they are not as widely used as the ARB so finding parts in another country may be more difficult.
 
Just a thought.......... Millions of detroit locker are put into american pick ups,suv and Lorry's vehicles without failure every year
 
i've done pay n play, laning, snow in bosnia, norway etc in winter and in 25 years only been stuck a handful of times where a locker would have helped.. even then 1 in the rear would have done the trick.... unless your planning on something very very extreme y not just fit one?? and standard in the front.... probably a more reliable option,

That would be a good option to fit one in the rear a cheap alternative.

Whilst I am asking are there any other mods that people would recommend for the trips I have planned.
 
detroits in the landrover rear axle dont seem to last long, but if the 110 your getting has a salisbury rear axle then there pretty much bullet proof

As has already happened one person will offer his opinion and then another person will disagree and offer there own.

At last some sensible advice. I have a Detroit locker to fit to my TD5 once the weather warms up and I've had them in untold American 4x4s with no problems. Even had one fitted to my Mustang with 400+ bhp and it never let me down. Occassionaly they do get clunky if not used but a few tight figure of eights in a car park does the trick. Also keep an eye on the oil levels as they dont like running dry. JMHO.
