Sorry to ask an inane question but does the diff lock always need to be engaged? In other words when not needed where should it be?
 
ffs no, you will shag the gearox if you are running it everywhere with the diff lock in. pull the lever to the right to dis engage it
 
So the vertical channel on the right is what - neutral? And the two horizontal channels are L and H ?? I dont think there is any drive if I leave it to the right.
 
Low = L and you push the lever forwards to engage low range
High = H and You pull it back to engage high range
Neutral = N and disengages the drive from the axles (used if you have a PTO winch fitted)
Diff lock is engaged when you push the lever over to the left and disengaged when it's pulled over to the right.

If that's the case and you can only get drive with diff lock engaged either sombods nicked one of yeh prop shafts or you have a broken half shaft/diff
 
Could be bust c.v joint, mine went a couple of weeks ago and had to use diff lock to get home, c.v was in a million bits.
