Hi, just bought a 10 model freelander 2. Hse .With 91k. On clock. Didnt notice noisy rear end. Had in garage fa new disc,s pads & shoes as that was mechanics diagnosis. I said it sounds like wheel bearing. He said it was brake noise. Anyway.
Not much improvement. He now says its diff bearings.
Before i go changing diff, thought i,d get peoples veiws. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately the Freelander 2 rear diff is made of cheese, with a quiet life of about 50k miles, after which point most seem to go noisy as the tail beating begins to disintegrate. If left to go very noisy, they can seize solid, which is very scary, don't ask how I know.

Yeh. Gunna get it done. Place in york refurbish fa £650 all in.
Bell Engineering are the go to place for rear diffs.
The Haldex will need servicing at the same time, so that will need to be factored in too.
The PTU is also known to fail, again at about 50k miles, so be prepared to replace that at some point too.
