Hi folks I have a 1997 p38 diesel that wont start I changed injection pump as other one was fubar and wouldnt start all codes match up in nanocom got fuel to injection pump and up to injection pipes but wont start any ideas apart from box of matches

Give it a whiff of Eezy Start - if it tries or does run on that its def fuel - have you tried bleeding the injector pipes?

How do you bleed them properly just incase im doing it wrong

Crack them off one at a time and turn the engine over each time retighten job done

Double-check the static timing if that fails.

Open all the injectors and close them as air free fuel appears. Engine may start whilst doing this so be aware..

Are you saying you replaced the injection pump and did not set it correctly?

I used the locking pin to flywheel and the tool to push the pump out whilst holding the cog in place if that's what you mean

So how did you set the static timing? You can't just plonk a injection pump in it has to be static timed.

You need a DTI and an adaptor for the pump timing. Should be 0.90 mm lift on cam at TDC number one, engine locked. Read Rave for how to do it.

Well tried everything pump timing set just wont start no matter I tried so I cut my losses and bought another p38 diesel and am going to use the slag as my parts car
