the one i saw on scrapheap was the barleyickers lorry engine after theyed tried to adjust the injection pump...thought theyed blocked the air intake with cloth but it still threw a con rod.
My cousins Isuzu 4x4 had a run away on her. She was coming up to the traffic lights and could see lots of smoke in her mirror. She pulled over onto the side of the road and tried switching it off but nothing. just kept reving and reving until it seized.
you would have to have balls to go near the sump plug when you hear the noise coming from an engine on run away.
One night on the booze my mate had an engine knock coming from his Toyota. Knowing that getting hold of a second hand engine was no drama we put a brick on the accelerator until the engine couldn't take it any more. It went from redlining to slowing down and blowing the con rods out the block what a sight that was to see. Hence the reason i would stay well clear of an engine on run away, unless you can spare loosing a hand or arm
