Hi all, got a bit of a mystery, removed injector pump from 96 range rover diesel using all the correct tools and followed RAVE instructions to the letter, replaced as many seals as I could keeping everything squeaky clean, followed Rave again on refit using correct tools and dial gauge, got fuel through to injectors turned over and bingo!!!!!! nothing. reset timing a couple of times more, still nothing at all, no signs of starting at all, while I had the pump on the bench I turned the shaft a couple of times to get the pump head on the spring tension to change the front O ring and turned it again to line the key up to slot back into the cog. is it possible I have turned the shaft to the opposite end of the stroke and it has not timed in the correct position even tho the key way is in line? any ideas on this would be great, I am going to take the pump back off and turn it 360 and re time to see if I have screwed it up myself. but before I do that I have to install a new in tank pump as I have just found that the old one is knackered. wish me luck

Not yet Flying Scotsman, going to have another go over weekend. I have checked both codes with nano com and they match, so just a case of keep at it. Fitted new in tank pump, reset timing so Saturday will be fit fuel lines, prime pump up to injectors and see what happens. Thanks for the reply by the way

Hi guys sorry for delay with reply, first, thanks for your reply, as for wammers question, I only changed five seals in total without going inside the pump, these were the top two oblong seals including a few practice runs to get the timing pin back into the guide hole, the two O rings on the oval covers on each side and the larger O ring at the distributor head, the latter I am about to change again because I think I may have nipped it on the way back into the pump housing as it is still leaking fuel which would fit with flying scotsmans suggestion, all the others have sealed and are not leaking, I did put everything back together correctly as I recorded the whole process as I worked through the job at hand, as I said in my first post I followed RAVE to the letter on the refit and timing process including the bleed up to the injectors, the engine did fire up briefly the other night because that's how I found out I had damaged the O ring and this may well be the air issue Scotsman mentioned, all nanocom readings are good and show no faults and both codes are the same. will be back at it on Saturday and hopefully with the new O ring fitted It will build correct pressure and run long enough to make adjustments at the top of the Fip, I am grateful for your input and I will keep you both posted with the progress, thanks again.
