hi i have a 96 range rover p38 dse auto . and i have fitted a re mapped chip ,hi flow air filter, 3" stainless steel twin pipe exhaust and 3 x size intercooler. this has taken the power the rangy from 136 to 205bhp. this has made the rangy more drivable and when i got it i was getting 24 mpg and now am getting 36 mpg.
in the summer i did a 2500miles towing a caravan and i got 30 mpg . the best thing that i have found is that you can go quicker without having to thrasth it. the cost for what i have done has cost £1500+vat. am now looking it to a bigger turbo

Hi

What place did alol this for you at £1500+VAT? Which chip did they use etc.

Any joy on the bigger turbo, or even a variable geometry one?

Your thoughts

Adam

36 mpg? is that from the computer or tank brim to brim checks? Changing the fueling by adding an external chip seems to affect the accuracy of the cars computer. Mine suggests 3 to 4 mpg better when chipped but is actually doing about the same mpg or slightly less than pre chip.

i think that he has a moderate driving style so by not thrashing the throttle he saves. Don`t foget the massive intercooler as well as that will help a great deal

wow, do a quick bit of googling and i can answer some of my and other people's questions.

1. the company supplying the 3 x intercooler and chip is jeremy j fearn, same price too. site reckons 10% to 15% increase in mpg, but is qouting customers.
2. the site does not say which chip
3. the site reckons 196 bhp variant on temperature

i hope this helps someone apart from me.

what would be my nearest shop to get this done, bearing in mind i live in porthcawl on the south coast of Wales?

thanks in advance, adam

he has dealers set up all over uk....or rather they are already independent dealers that are authorised to use his kit.....as for power, various states of tunes available in the form of chip....chip/coooler...then you could fit a full janspeed system....then of course theres the headers to change....and may as well throw a cam in...then theres porting and valves....bigger or smaller turbo....just shout when you want me to stop lol

You ever seen a variable geometry turbo in a land rover?

Cheers

What are the advantages of a variable geometry turbo?

I thought that you went for a small turbo for quick pick up/bottom end power or a big turbo for high end power. Does the VG give you the best of both?

A vg one acts as a small turbo early on the opens up at the high end as a large turbo. Through the use of small rotating vanes like louvres.

Shed loads of torque too:eek:, then replace your diffs when they break followed by VCU, gearbox etc from reading this forum they all seem prone to failure with the current power/torque levels of the V8:doh:
