With DPFs costing up to £1500 or so (+ fitting) it’s no wonder that people try to get around the law.
 
A spokesman for the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency said: "DVSA is making further changes to the MOT manual and to the diesel emissions limits for modern vehicles, in May 2018.

"These will make the test more robust and better able to detect where emissions control equipment has been tampered with."

I wonder how far the DVSA will go in determining what constitutes emissions control equipment. Will EGR valves for example be included? Woe betide anyone who has deleted theirs.

Can we sue the previous owners, (blame them for removal, tampering or otherwise causing the vehicle to be non-compliant) ? ... :rolleyes::eek:;)
 
All new vehicles from 2009 had DPF's fitted as standard.
Will the MOT test only cover vehicles from this date?
 
Not all 300tdi disco’s had DPF’s. How do they decide which ones did and which ones didn’t?

D1s or 2s have never had diesel particulate filters.
Anyway I don't see an issue, my wife's Merc has one, and if an indication come up on the dash that the filter needs refreshing the car just needs to be taken for high speed run.
All the info is in the hand book but the warning light has not illuminated once the three years she has owned it.

If the light comes on it's a problem. The regen cycles should be occurring during normal driving.

were not there DPF before them? Was not the a item like a catalytic converter back on the 300TDI called a/or used as a particle filter? Which seemed to be a favorite mod for sound and performance, Was it not.
Also this has had many, many comments about the topic for the last 5-6 years that I am aware off, with most doing the poo,poo to regulations about the removal and and adjusting the timing to burn coal and then laughing at how much black exhaust some out of the Pipe and into peoples faces, vehicle
Also some of the anti bicycle brigade have laughed about putting out black smoke on the bicycle, spandex wearing W@nkers.
Ironic isn't it.......
