Got a diesel leak at tank in 110sw. Seems to be coming from top left of tank. (the invisible bit!!!)
Any ideas??
How much of a pain is it to drop tank?
If tank damaged any idea where I'll get new one? Can't seem to find one for 2000 td5 110sw anywhere. Its the plastic one.
Help please. Daily driver so can't afford to have it off the road.

Have you checked all the pipes?

Call a parts supplier like John Craddock and they sell you one

Assume they're the pipes I can't get to without dropping the tank!
Yeah, couldn't find one on craddocks website but will phone to see if turns out I need one.

Most likely coming from the fuel return pipe back to the tank. Edit: (Must have had a senior moment), I should have said most likely from vent pipe connection which is on the top left of tank, pipe may have come off or perished and diesel may be sloshing up and out.

Does it only happen when the tank is full or all the time?
The favourite for the full tank leak is the vent pipe between the tank and the filler neck, which on mine was a bit of rubber pipe crimped on at each end, but the other favourite is the return from the pump, which goes onto an molded in elbow which shouldn't crack!
However, if it does, (and depending there the break is) it's possible to cut it off and tap the hole to fit a transision piece in to crimp the pipe to.
Simple solutions once you have identified where the leak is.

I seem to remember you said somewhere yours is a TD5. In which case the seal where the in-tank fuel pump and gauge sender unit goes in the tank can leak. Especially when the tank is full and the seal is below the fuel level. The pump is held in the tank by a screw-on retaining ring which is hard to do up, so people tend not to tighten it terribly well, in my experience, or even cross thread it.

Those plastic tanks are pretty tough and it takes a lot to break one. It's probably pipes or seals.

I also have a leaking Defender TD5 from somewhere at the top of the tank.
I've downloaded a manual for Defenders from 1996 onward and it shows just one connection on the top (The spill return)
I've seen a video of a pump replacement showing all the pipes on the top of the tank.
I guess my manual is not for the TD5 ???
