Hi,
I have a small diesel leak (P38), that runs down and drips from sump plug. Felt around as much as possible found nothing. Looking under bonnet from passenger side can see wet about halfway down engine. Starting also becoming difficult. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Is this a left legger? Take the plastic cover off and look at the spill pipes.

take the top plastic cover of the engine and check the bled off pipes on the injectors easy to replace you can get them from most parts shops, a bit of a fiddle to change but will also sort out the starting as the fuel drains back if bled offs leak.

wammers I was to slow in writing reply iam not very fast on a keyboard you beat me to it as I was trying to type

you must have good eye's, looking from the passenger side on mine I would need X ray vision! Do you mean the FIP? I can only echo the echo, change the spill pipes, give it a spray with degreaser and wash off. Let it dry and see if that cures it:)

That's why i asked if it was a left legger. Need bloody good eyes to see the turbo from passenger side. Nothing to leak at turbo side anyway not by the way of diesel. If he thinks the FIP is the turbo there maybe certain difficulties talking him through an engine overhaul. :D:D:D

Thanks all, Not a left hooker, and I incorrectly mentioned turbo, however evidence of leak about halfway down engine looking from passenger side. Will attempt to find spill pipes.

Remove plastic cover between cam cover and manifold. Spill pipes are the pipes connecting the injectors together. Go to a motor factors and get proper stuff 1/8" I/D. A lot of the stuff off Ebay is crap.

I have a small drip from the top part of the fip which runs down the block. It looks like the gasket on the top part of the fip, Will get round to this one day but not looking forward to it.

Top of pump is easy it's the next layer down that can be a bitch if you don't know what you are doing. If you do take it off DON'T play with anything inside the pump.
