Hallo.
after being left overnight I was curious to see diesel over the floor and on the inside of the timing belt case.
it was dry yesterday- from the pooling it can only entered from behind the camshaft sprocket.
Is this likely? it had not happened in the last week or so that we had cover off- Why now? is it painful

That looks like your fuel pump has sprung a leak in the seal behind the pulley.
There are a few good videos on youtube , britanicca restorations did one I believe.

Seal is easy enough to change , timing it again properly is where you need to make sure you get it right. Should not be an expensive job to do_Or if you get a reputable known diesel guy to fix it for you should ne be too bad, but make sure they know what they are doing ref the retiming of it.

Seal kit is available on the bay, as is the DTI you'll need to re-time the pump :rolleyes:
 
DTI kit easy enough to use, loads of vids on youtube.
I cannot remember if it is the disco or def 200 you need a 90 degree adaptor for the dti to use it on the engine, as space is at a premium.
