I had an eberspacher in the lightweight ..... fantastic bit of kit, if its as good as that i'd jump at it

so funny when the exhaust is under the motor and u fire it up on a cold morning... scares the crap out of passers by lol

cheers steve

Sounds too cheap to be true, I've used them in trucks and they do get fookin hot, be ideal heating a landy, could set it to be nice and cosy with windows defrosted for when you get up in the morning:D

Night heaters (as they are called in trucks) are very good
But you have to be able to get spares for it, (glow plug, fuel pump overheat protection etc)

A good air duct lay out and a timer it will be tip top in a landy :crazy_driver:

seen a petrol one fitted to an audi light years ago, must have been 40 years ago now,
was in a finish or norweigen reg car.
the guy was working over here and saw me looking at the old style time clock on the dash !!
showed me under the bonnet at the unit, the old fashioned SU petrol pump and single spark plug, the connections, and exhaust pipe by the front wheel :)

but thinking here, it must be simular to those in an ambulance ??

Have been thinking about finding/making an electric (mains) block heater for the winter months,
anyone else done this ??
as I`m "old" I quite like the Idea of flicking a switch from indoors about an hour before I need to go out in my landie on cold/icy days/nights..
could even link in a small battery charger into the live circuit, not that my twin batterys need it, but as tesco says, every little helps...

Was looking for a cheap new one with warranty as I cant afford one of the usual night heaters, this seemed like a good buy.:)

Landowner - sorry for the hijack, just replying to easye1's post about a mains heater.

That 12V air heater's location is in Preston I note from the advert. Only about 15 miles from me. HOWEVER the company's website says they're based in Bradford.....yet it gives a landline number with a Preston code 01772

Interesting:)

Perhaps the agent for sales is in Preston, I'll have a look into it.

Don't want to buy second hand, we need a temporary heater for the office and I thought we could use this one and then I'll pinch it for the landy:)

I believe Kenlowe has beaten you to it ;)

KENLOWE

yeh, seems just the jobby..
was on ebay yesterday
type in pre heaters,
lots being made in germany even futher out countries,
but theres lots of used ex mercedes "heaters"...cant say anything about them as I dont know..

just seems a good Idea for me as I dont normally drive great distances in my `ol disco....

err, I have got one of them hot/cold dashtop blowers 12 volts, wired into the ignition circuit, forget its make, but its a good output one, works well, but only after you have started the engine....
I is getting old, want instant heat in the cold now :)

pete,if you look for a rover 75 on ebay, some of the top line ones have a cab/engine heater fitted to them.cost not much to buy either.one of the members on here fitted one to his p38 a year or two ago.he could not praise it enough tbh.;)

A search on eBay for 'Webasto pre heater' throws plenty up.

I bet it would be a relatively straight forward mod/retro fit. :)

Any of them. They all do the same job, just come out of different vehicles.

Some incomplete and very pricey, some with loads of random wiring where it was ripped out of a truck.

I want a cheap one , new with a warranty and easy to install. :)

The ones pulled out of trucks are usually tied to the ecu and do nothing once removed but still sell well to unsuspecting buyers! Have a google, there's a good web page on how to spot them.
