On a 30 mph road with the engine revving , a bad viscous , would let temp climb,on a 30 mph road.

just completed a 50 mile journey home, 50% motorway and 50% A6 . kept speed down to 50mph. needle never moved. allowed to cool, no pressure and no loss of water . I noticed a weep last week and replaced the clip and topped up water. I can only assume that I topped up on top of an airlock.
hi all, symptoms re occured this am taking my son 3 miles for an interview. temp does not go into red but stays at high white mark. after cooldown, I re stated at home and allowed to tickover with cap off till just below normal running temp. no water coming out of small tube from radiator. blew through with compressd air so not blocked. water spitting out of rad connection but not enough pressure to make it to header tank. if I squeeze rad pipe nearest to header tank small air bubbles come out of bleed hole. Does not go into red just rises then falls back to normal. am I missing something obvious? TIA Mick
rad is hot on passenger side, cooler on drivers side not checked fan yet. will do newspaper test,(need to go and buy a paper)
