Hi All.
I was driving my 2000 P38 2.5 Diesel and it suddenly power surged and cut out. I left it rest for about 5 mins and it restarted and was fine for the rest of the day. However, the very same thing happened again over the past 2 days within half an hour of starting in each case. I would appreciate any help.

Regards.

Chris

Probably the best thing to do (unless someone's had the same experience and knows what causes this) is to get it on diagnostics, since that should tell you if anything's broken in the engine.

Diagnostics with live data will point to certain things....I would be looking at the FIP

i had same problem i put new fuel pump and injection pump on still dont it

then dropped a vaule in number three cylinder but dont think that was the problem going to put other engine in on monday

does injector pump need to be coded etc or is it just straight in

You will need to use the electronic bits from the rangie pump if the donor engine is not RR sourced.

when my engine was cutting out code was 142 and 144 with snap on tool
engine begin control i replace injector with wire made no differance to it cutting out

its a new crank sensor also infact second one first one broke as i put it in to far

now i noticed slide adjustment on these do they need to be set or is it just case off putting them in

They need to be set, also if the last one broke it may have damaged the the pins on the flywheel/flexplate.

As long as you do NOT remove the mounting bracket, new one should just slide in. If mounting bracket is moved you need a special tool to reset it. See RAVE for details.
