Good Day All

I have the pleasure of driving a disco '99 TD5, it is great but I am having to deal with a mountain of maintance to get her to the std i want. Recently I found coolant dripping to the ground, on inspection i found that there is water dripping from the diesel cooler. It looks as though there may be a way of re-sealing it but am hesitant to yank the thing out, looks complicated.

Has anyone attempted to fix one of these things.

The machanic i sent the car to has said that he can sort the problem by removing a clamp on the unit and then the plastic inlet piece (which the water pipe fits to) and insert a new o-ring rubber. Is he on drugs?? It looks feasable, a a diesel cooler costs R7000-00 (437 pounds) so i kinda hope it works. But on the other hand we want to go to the Namib later this year, what a place to break down!!

ask him if the "clamp" is designed to be removed and replaced (or is it a bodge) - and ask how many times he's done it

price for the item is just over £100 here i believe
