right - i have a 2.25 petrol in my s3.
I would like to put in a diesel - either a 2.25 diesel or 2.5 NA one

are the 2.5 diesels much better than the 2.25's in terms of power, smoke etc?

what mods are needed to get the 2.5 in?? anyone got any links to previous threads or any ideas?

cheers

i heard that putting a diesel in a petrol makes a right mess of the brakes as the servo doesnt work cos it has nothing to cause a vacuum as well as quite a few more bit needing changing, no expert tho! I think the 2.25 is not as good as 2.5 from what i've been told when asking about doing this myself. LPG seemed to be a better option and lost of silicon waterproofing for off road!

**** boy! the doosul injuns have a vauum pump on them to supply suck to the servo and if you fit a injun that dunt got one it's no real hardship to fit one while installing said injun. as the lump is damm near the same whether doosul or petrol landrover use the dizzy hole and drive for the vaccuummmm pump .

like i say thats what i was told by someone, so it just goes to show, people who say they know something shouldn't always be listened too!

If you are going to change the engine why not check out other lumps. A friend of mine has fitted a Prima out of a Maestro it now has a Turbo and intercooler. Top end is better, and fuel economy is good. There are loads of options.
