I am talking about the alloy caps over the wheel nuts NOT the locking wheel nuts. The black plastic tool which came with the tool kit has teeth missing. I presume these things regularly break. Is there a trusted way of removing the caps or do I have to buy a tool?

I was about to go down the screwdriver route,James (thanks for all you help,by the way) but started thinking about the damage to the caps and the alloys. It's a bit hard to get behind them too. They can't be on that well if the standard poxy little plastic tool can pull them off:confused:

Why are you trying to remove them? They are not meant to be removed. The reason the little plastic tool is broken is usually because someone has tried to remove these caps with it.

Sandmans right. The only cover that is ment to come off is the one that covers the locking wheel nut. Thats what the black plastic thing is for. Thats why the wheelbrace fits the nuts!

27mm socket does the job, those plastic thing's are next to useless.

Alloy caps over the wheel nuts do not come off. They are not supposed to. Only the alloy cap over the locking wheel nut is designed to come off

It's all clearer now!.............not having the LR wheel brace I assumed they would be as any other wheel nut under the cap. With the caps being loose and moving about I guessed that was what the plastic tool was for. I had no idea it is specifically for the cover on the locking nut (if mine has them)

Live and learn!

Thank you all

P.S. The tool is a fiver on ebay;)

They do come off or at least some have on my 110  but as has alrady been said there is no need to take them off.
