the Volkswagen Auto Group has nothing to do with this thread IMO

Then you have not been paying attention. I quoted post #24 following on from post #20 in which interceptorby discusses taking his vehicle to be diagnosed by an "on-site VAG garage" who were unable to connect. He did not know if this was due to incorrect protocols or a defective socket and asked if anyone had experienced dodgy connections. IMO it was most likely due to incorrect protocols as they are a VAG specialist and unlikely to hold diagnostic equipment suitable for a TD5. The reference was therefore relevant to the thread and I claim my £5. :p

....i can't find any info on the Vident iLink 400. It looks to be more powerful than the Foxwell but cheaper.
So if you couldnt find any info about it how do you know it's more powerfull than Foxwell ? ... looks very like the Icarsoft and that one sucks with td5

I emailed the Australian distributor and he told me it does the TD5. I think it uses the same software as the Foxwell NT530 but has access to coding options. It is also manufacturer specific unless you pay extra for more to be added. I do not think the Foxwell can code.

Correct. The Foxwell doesn’t code. Get a Nanocom for coding.
So... Take the plunge, buy the vident iLink 400, try it out vigorously for a month and report back on the forum how it worked out with your TD5.

Why did you ask an australian distributor for a tool made in China though? ... The Icarsoft was advertised to do the Td5 as well and it was a bad joke with it... If you trust this Vident tool go for it and tell us how it works cos if in reality it does what Foxwell can(or even more) then it's a good choice

The AU dealer did a youtube video on it for the Freelander. I was just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with it before i committed a £100 . There is amazingly little info . I probably will buy it because i am more curious than i am miserly. Unless anyone can shed some more light on it?. thyis is the land rover function list from their website. http://www.videntshop.com/upload/service/19102315718205261378.pdf

The special function list for D2 is 100% similar with Foxwell, \this Vident seems a cheaper version of it

Hope for the best for you seeing as how it is taking ages to get stuff from China at the moment, as we have found out!
Lucky thing your MOT is a while off!

It's arrived and i have cleared the 3 Amigos. It diagnosed a left front wheel bearing sensor . Which is probably correct. Don't know what else it does yet. But i am sure it will pay for itself. . It now lives in the glovebox.

Relevant is how it behaves with the Td5 engine and with the BCU cos the amigos can be cleared with much cheaper tools too.
