I never understood why such a critical part of an engine who's failure can cost hundreds/thousands is ever trusted to little more than a beefed up elastic band.
On a similar note to the OP what is the life of the chain on a 4.6?
Whats wrong with that - The old Hercules transport plane only had 4 5/8" bolts holding each engine in.If you think that a 'elastic band' is bad, even worse is the fact that all that holds the sprocket on the end if the camshaft is the tension of the bolt!! nothing else at all!!
