Having followed the general chat forum for a while and in particular reference to matey boy who recently got himself stuck..:)

I guess this would be the forum to request to 'tag along' with some fellow devon laners when i get the urge to get muddy?

None of my mates own a LR and I have consequently, in the past been out on a few relatively 'easy' local lanes on my own. Don't need to know where to drive, I know where I can go, just thinking maybe I don't wish to end up stuck earning a similar wrath of finger pointers.....:blabla:

Or should I just get a winch and not have to trouble anyone else, thoughts please??........thanks
Mike

Never go on your own as simple lanes cant be very different at different times of the year, always take someone else and leave a bit of space between you, so if one gets stuck the other can yank you out, simple logic really, im sure there are a few guys in your area that would gladly let you tag along as the more the merrier lol

I am currently in Torquay over christmas but not in the disco so unable to get out. A few of us from the midlands are planning a day out around Torbay and dartmoor early next year hopefully so welcome to tag along.

I'm in Exeter and know quite a few lanes around here/dart moor area. Give me a shout I'm more than happy to have some one accompany me. Cheers

If you can find 'lanes' on Dartmoor please let me know ... There is a National Park bylaw on the use of vehicles more than 12 yards or so from the road on common land :)

Devon County Council website has all byways listed online:

" MAPPY THING"

Not being a 'local' this may have been caused by the use of a generalisation of the area north around Newton Abbott and Bovey Tracey.
Of course all lanes are sourced from trail wise and checked against county council websites.
Some very good lanes and although only explored a few on one day it was very good.
Please expect some errors due to a lack of local knowledge.

Lots in east dartmoor ........

Yup - appologies. I have never thought of the Bovey and the eastern side as being Dartmoor :) - But it is within the DNPA boundary. 'tis what I call the 'inalong' - too much local knowledge .

If you are up for another to join in - drop me a pm and if Dartmoor Discovery hasn't left for Cumbria by then, he may want to come too. :D

Hopefully the next time I'm in Torquay for a weekend I'll bring the disco and we'll make a day of it.
Thanks mr navigator.
I wouldn't mind having a go at the pay n play place at Trago Mills if it is any good too.

Thanks for the replies guys, will post up here when am up for a day out. Like I mentioned, I know all the legal lanes just need to remember which ones I'll get me landy through, normally riding my trial bike through them so don't take that much notice.
Darmoor Navigator - did you check out the recent addition byeway near Lidford you mentioned some time ago? I was meaning to check it out to see if will get a car through but am between bikes at the monent..
oh and merry xmas!:):)

Managed to escape today and spent the day green laning day around the Tamar Valley, checked out the Lidford byway whilst out and it would be a breeze in the Landy. Nice long lane and would like to venture out that way in the Landy sometime soon if anyone's up for it???.
