£565 for the locker not built into diff and £465 for the TT not built up. Could prob find them a little cheaper if you looked around.

wow, thanks fellas.

I only went to work for an hour!

So lock er in the rear and trutrac in the front then. I would like air lockers but for the extra money and the fact its more to go wrong i think youve all just confirmed what i already knew and that was the "fit and forget" option is probably my best.

Now all i need to do is find all the bits.

Johnlad - are you simex's 35's? and if so have you fitted the ashcroft half shafts?

both me and john run 35's on standard shafts with lockers so far only john has snaped one rear shaft

Yes, last I heard he was 80 miles away stuck in Traffic! shouldn't be long.

Still yet to try my truetrac out, hopefully soon now its fitted. got to get the front in also.

let us know how the truetracs perform offroad as i have a 90 project on the go at the minute

;) nice one. And im assuming with the simex and the lockers your not just having a pootle down a resurfaced byway?

Only reason im asking is im looking for the same - 35" tyres and lockers, and i dont want to be half way up a lane in north wales and lose a half shaft.

uprated shafts are around £250 a pair, for that you can buy around 8 pairs of standard shafts and i dont think 1 pair of uprated shafts will outlast 8 of the others, but i may be wrong, also i would rather break a shaft than a diff because that torque has to go somewhere

Well the Detroit is strengthened because you get rid of all the centre bits in the diff, effectively a 4 pin. but I totally agree, whats next? propshafts? drive fanges? then gearbox internals? You have to stop somewhere!

Outside of comps, standard has to be the way forward.
