Hi all,

The S2a I am restoring has no heater. I want to fit one but would like it to be as authentic as possible. So I have bought and restored a S2a round heater. I have managed to get hold of a pair of 2a windscreen demisters and pipes, the type shown here:

and a rheostat like this one:

Is this all I need? Have any of you got pictures of the original setup in a S2a? I know where the heater sits and how it connects into the coolant system through the valve / tap on the back of the head etc but I still have a few questions:

1. What is the correct route of pipes to the windscreen vents?

2. How / where are the windscreen vents attached?

3. Where is the rheostat fitted on the bulkhead?

4. Is the Rheostat the only fan control or should there be an additional switch to turn it on/off?

Many thanks,
B

does your s11a have the wipers that work together like s111s or are they the type with indipendent wiper motors if its the twin motor type you need the round heater if its the ones similar to s111 then its the square type heater i am not sure but i think 1966 was the change over year, if its the early type and you have a petrol bulkhead you can make the square type heater fit not sure with the diesel bulkhead as it will have the hand throttle lever there hope this helps.

Thanks for the info Graham,

I have an early petrol 2a with individual wipers so luckily have the round smiths heater. Do you know how the vents attach to the screen and the 'factory' run for the pipes between them and the heater please?

Cheers,
B
