Hi guys,

I am hoping for some help. I have an ex-MOD 1992 Defender 90 with a 2.5L N/a engine! The only upgrade I have dared to make is to attach a steering knob!!!
I feel my biceps have grown enough now and I want to complete a power steering conversion.
I have been in touch with 11 garages and well known parts suppliers. I am having difficulty finding the parts as now we here seems to have them or they won’t agree to fit the power steering from a disco.
Does anyone know where I could get the parts or know of a garage that could help source/ fit the power steering conversion. No corner of the UK is too far. Any help is desperately welcomed Cheers chaps!

Hello.

What does your steering set up look like?

Shirley you can just get a 4 bolt steering box, deadender pump kit, crank pulley an pipes and it would be golden?

Let me go goggling a likkle bit

As above pretty simple to do as long as you no how to work a spanner, second hand parts rather than new will make it better on the pocket

I think it's the pump bracket that's very hard to find

The rest should be easy

Not the best picture but you should be able to make out the bracket and part number.....ETC8854

Ignore the red circles - it’s just a pic I found on google....

Hi lads, thanks for the help. I cannot find a bracket for love nor money!
I don’t own a mig and I am not confident/ have the skill to fabricate the bracket.
Any ideas of where u could source the part?

Try put the number and bracket into goooogly and it comes up

But by heck you will need to part with some money:(
The turners add was for a second hand part and alas is out of stock but may still be worth giving them a ring.

Good luck. They are around.

Holy cow! I’m not buying one and I need a sit sown after seeing the Famous Four price!!!

I'm guessing that the bracket isn't flat? As in flat and the same thickness across it and not machined.

Just to totally throw a curve ball.
I had an electric PAS pump on a car once so as to remove the BHP sapping engine setup.
Then all you need is the steering box and a bit of plumbing/wiring.

Think the pump was a Peugeot one.

Just to add more confusion for you but it’s an option worth looking at.
If I remember the price of the pump was equivalent to the cost of that new bracket:D

I fitted the PAS from a 2.5turbo to my 2.5na

When I fitted my TDI the bracket was the same *shrugs*
