So, about to pop my LR cherry.
Mrs C is on board and the cash is waiting in the bank... i just have one dilemma.

A. 2001 Disco 2 with FSH, 89,000 miles, ES spec...
Quality Used Car Sales Derbyshire | Derby Trade Cars - 2004 02 Reg LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 2.5 TD5 ES SPEC+HEATED LEATHER+DVD+CLIMATE+7 SEATS

or

B. 2002 Disco 2 facelift with FSH 86,000 miles, ES spec...
Used Land Rover Discovery 4x4 2.5 Td5 Es 5 Seat 5dr | Kingswood Landrover

Prices are about a £500 difference and the answer may be obvious but item A is 2 hours away at a LR specialist and item B is 4 1/2 hours away at a general 2nd hand dealership. (Dealer does sell quite a few LR tho)

What to do?

Experienced advice needed & appreciated.

Jim

Facelift model. Though, what year is it? Plate says 2002. Dealer says 2004. You are paying a bit of a premium through a dealer though. I just got a 2000 TD5 with 96000 miles for £5000. Private sale though so no comeback. I think the second one is a bit overpriced.
Pays your money and takes your choice.

If you are paying the extra for dealer facilities, are you really going to want to take 4.5 hours away for a warranty issue. Of course, as a general dealer and not specialist, will they be able to do anything with it anyway?

I'd definitely look for something nearer.

Food for thought.
i saw the 02 plate, 2004 thing on the website. Just typed the plate into vehicle check and it doesn't register either.
Think it might be back to the drawing board, there seems a lot more about further away. I'm down South and its a bit thin on the ground.

If im going to pay a premium from a dealer then i guess its best its a LR dealership.

I'd keep looking, I managed to get a 2002 disco 2 es spec fsh 49'000miles for about the same money, they're out there, ya just gotta be patient!!

have you tried douglas motors nr wimbourne poole?

they sell lots of landys of varying types might be worth a drive down there as your not far away,if theres nothing on the forecourt that takes yr fancy speak to paul or marcus in the shop im sure they can help you out

OK,
Cheers for the advice everyone, went to look at a private sale today and i'm pretty happy with it so think i'm going to put in an offer.

Thanks again!
