from what i can make out,the greedy bastards have just started open cast mining on what was open fields,they are very old slag heaps but with the price of coal they have decided to rip open the ground again to get at stuff they did not want thirty odd years ago.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
 
there is/was a high percentage of coal that was regarded as not worth the hassle! it is estimated that there is upto 200 years worth of coal remaining in the ground!

obviously not round the back of your house!!
