I thought that diesel's didn't need electricity to keep running, because the diesel explodes on compression as opposed to ignition, hence the reason why you don't need sparking plugs, and the reason why diesels are better waders provided you don't cut of the air supply. You will have a fuel shut off solenoid on the pump, chances are that this has jammed, or is still being fed electricity (dodgey relay).
They do if they have an electronic fuel pump. All of the new engines have been designed with electronic pumps so they can be shut down. I have never heard of a diesel running off of sump oil, but then again; we tend to build our engines so they don't leak oil everywhereI thought that diesel's didn't need electricity to keep running, because the diesel explodes on compression as opposed to ignition, hence the reason why you don't need sparking plugs, and the reason why diesels are better waders provided you don't cut of the air supply.
