LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90 300
SERIES TDI HARD TOP, 96, P reg. shire blue, privacey glass, cd/dab radio, 5 sp box, pas, 2 inch susp lift, gas shockers/heavy duty coil springs, alloy sump and diff guards, remote superwinch, safari snorkel air intake, alloy chequer plate sil covers/wing tops, A bar, s/steps, tow pack, TD5 county alloys, long mot/tax,.142000 miles on clock.

I bought the above described ^ only a few months ago (june 06) & i may be needing to sell the bugger already, due to a new job which needs alot of motorway driving...thus my need for a faster more economical brum-brum. I`ve seen the car i like, but the dealer literally insulted me with his part-ex offer for my defender.

I`m just wondering if anybody out there can point me in the direction of a reasonable price i should be asking for it??

Many thanks

my best guess for that sort of year, anything between say 6 and 8 grand retail.
ive seen a 95 model advertised for 5500.
and ive seen a 02 model advert for 8000.

Many thanks Ormus.
I feel the dealer i was talking to was taking the 'you know what' when he only offered me 2grand. I know i`m going to make a loss, but i was thinking more in the region of 4 & a half to 5 grand, as i bought it for more than that only a few months ago & i`ve had quite a bit of work done on it.

A very well respected land rover mechanic in my area (East Lancs) gave it a good look over when i bought it & when i asked him "how much he`d think it worth?" (without me telling him how much i paid) & he said "Around the region of 6 grand".....which is what i did pay.

Does anybody know of a decent place to advertise the selling of a car like mine?

bring it here right now and i will give you 2100 quid for it! AND my disco!
the robbing bastard.

bloody hell, i saw a 86 model advertised for 3500 tother day!

as for advertising it, put it on here to start with. then ebay is the biggest market place in the uk, but you do need to take extra care with the scammers/conmen etc... dont part with the car until you have the cash in your mitts. and i mean the CASH.

Yer Ebay will get loads of hits. just make sure you know what your doing with it before you list it. with regards to start price, reserve price. end of auction and your small print (deposits, collection etc).

also try autotrader. i was on there when looking for my landy, im sure plenty of other people do too.

this forum and many others (cant name them) :D

good luck with passing it on and maybe you will buy another one in the future and come back here!

Always put your Tel No in the Listings not mobile but
landline this is important for buyer confidence this way
they can come down and look and try and buy

Think about the amount of money you want for it
if you get offered it pull the listing and take the money
I sold 2 Cars this way and one was a Freelander at 10000
after the robbing buggers offered 7500 on part ex at dealers

Cash Cash Cash

imho, never use your landline number. (too many weirdos out there).
mobile is good enough for most peeps.

I wouldn't bother with autotrader, didn't help me out one bit but they still charge you a fortune for it!!!!! post it on some of the landrover forums and landrover / 4x4 for sale boards, much more 'Proper' interest.

Oh by the way, thats just the kind of landy I'm after, how much are you looking for it?

Scott.

Having thought about it, i`d be reluctant to let it go for less than £5000.
I`ve put it in the 'for sale' section on this forum & had a couple of interested parties.
