just bought the ss mid box replacement pipe . fittted it yester day and it sounds the mutts nuts. well chuffed.just fort id share that with ya:p
 
so you have removed the box near the front and just running the rear silencer bit/thingy?

Im going to be taking all mine out the next few weeks and just fitting a cherry bomb and side exit behind the passenger door.

I have a TD5 with "TD5 Alive" exhaust and no cat.
Sounds throaty on full throttle and virtually the same as a standard exhaust at low revs.
It will never match the sound of a V8 but hey, you can't have everything.
The TD5 has a sound all of it's own due to the five pots.
 
Is there much more noise in the cabin after you remove the midbox??? Im thinking of removing it on my 2002 defender 90 TD5 but worried it will be to loud on long distance drives..
 
Can you get a video of it as I am thinking about replacing my silencer but want to know what it will sound like.

im thinking of buying a 200 tdi with a stright through, could everyone sick vids on of their stright throu'd defenders? sticky thread?
 
i have a straight thru down pipe.standard bosal centre and straight thru rear no back box etc.way better on power.200tdi.

just the centre silencer box seems plenty quiet enough.

is he running straight through center and back boxes with a decat or what? ive a td5 with decat and straight through centre and it sounds nothing like that!
 
Morning all,
I have a straight through S/S centre section for a 110 TD5. Bit noisy for me. If any one in the Southampton area is interested £30 will get it. Its been used for about 200 miles only...

Both boxes are straight through as standard on my Disco 200 and it's quiet.
 
My 300 didn't have an egr or cat, so just replaced the centre box with a straight-through pipe. Seems to pick up quicker and cruise a little better, not sure on fuel consumption, I was returning 24/25mpg on a run.
