Well thanks for the info everyone.

Think I'll strip it down, replace bulk and O/rigger, replace some seals n uj's etc, I've got a brand new clutch sitting here along with new slave and master cyls, do timing belt and water pump etc. Paint the chassis all over and waxoil it again. Replace everything thats wrong and clean everything up.

Budget myself to £500

Then push for a good £2995?

if you do all that , and do it properly then 2995 might be a good bargian for someone.
would you not be tempted to keep it?

If you rekon you'll get £2500 for it. Why would you want to spend £500 and a load of blood and sweat to get £500 more?

just wot i thought

stick it on gay bay with a 2.5k reserve? you wont know until you try.

I do like it but prefer my disco as i get on with it better.

Right then, weighing everything up, I think i'm just going to stick it on ebay with a reserve of 2000 and take it from there if it doesn't sell then I'll consider doing the work.

It's had 8000 spent on it over the years so spending another 500 on it isn't going to make much difference at all, think it's time to call it quits regarding money loss :D

I bin watching 3 on ebay over the weekend, all now ended, a 93, a 95 and a 96 110 CSW - all in seemingly excellent condition (including the bulkheads) - people all had buy it nows of 4,500 - 5000 but ran as auctions as well. The best of them (the '96) went up to £2,800 (reserve not met on any of them, the other 2 went to 2100 and 2350) so i think there are definitely good cars to be had for not much money, just gotta hope people will realise they suddenly arent worth what they were and if they want to sell are going to have to let them go for less.

I appreciate what you are saying and everything and do agree with you, It's not so much the current value of them thats my problem its the sentimental attachment of it that makes me not want to let it go for less than 2k, If it doesn't sell, it doesn't sell simple as. Then I'll look into it again.

I'll be honest to any viewer and just see what happens. There doesn't appear to be any specific clear value so all I can do is have a go and see what happens

My uncle tried to haggle with some block about a LR not all that long ago, and the bloke wouldn't shift from the high-ish asking price. My uncle began to give up, and said to the bloke: ' Look, do want to sell this LAndy or not?'

He turned around and just said No, not really.

Try to sell it for what its worth to you, if your not keen on it.

Think hard also - are you as attached to your disco? I don't think someone can be!

I wouldn't of bought a 110 out of choice, i would of had a 90 for the pruposes i use one for. But didn't have the choice and tried to live with it but I can't and have a disco which owes me nothing.

some of you are probably home mechanics and/ or enthusiasts and make sure you get a good deal when buying but you don't even make 50% of the buying market, there will be someone out there who would pay 2k for it for whatever reason (eg there initials are on the number plate of a landrover they want) little things like that make a difference and it all boils downs to the interest generated at the time and location of the sale.

Everyone can value this class of vehicle to what they payed for one or what they generally go for or wheigh it up against future selling price etc
You can only put an estimated value bracket as to what it may fetch and the only real way to find out is to do the business

grim reaper ere

lets face it this is a 1990 that's not been well looked after - has had a 200 plonked in and needs a new bulkhead

who in their right mind (in this day and age) is going to pay much more than £1000 for it ?

and i dunt care if it's had £80,000 spent on parts and service it's still not going to be worth anywhere near what yer looking for it - maybe you gold plated yer dash ?

I second what Sean is saying.. Sentimental value my fooking arse.. It's a lump of steel & Ally fer fook sake..

i fink people are also starting to realise that landys are ****e cars anyhows , no really , they are , lets face it.
so , why buy a ****e car that needs work?
look what 2.5k can buy you without lookin at landys.
im seriousley considering selling mine and buyin a toyota , sept i stand to lose around 3k on the bstard thing.
defenders are way over priced for what you get , always have been, but thats due to them being money pits and people only want some cash back.
