My mate has just offered me the Defender procomp 2" lift kit on his series 3 hybrid, he has 4 springs and plus 2" front shocks only, he wants £110 which seems a little expensive but the springs are 1 year old and the shocks are 6 months old.

Will they fit my 300Tdi disco? can i get away with my standard rear shocks and standard brake flexies for a little while? is this a good price for the set up?

thanks in advance

Not sure if they will fit, i would imagine springs are same shocks may have different mounts, im not 100%. you will be needing extended brake hoses if your intending to use it to its potential, £110 seems to high , as you can get full new set for around £200 delivered thats meant for your car :)

I wouldn't lift one end (or side) without the other. Buy a full set or it's probably not worth it, IMHO.

he wants to keep the shocks now so just having the springs off him, i think they will fit ok, will look into fabricating shock drop brackets and maybe shorter turrets and get longer brake lines asap

The springs are the same for discos 90s RRC so there interchangeable just get +2 shocks from paddocks, is the easy option

Is it worth the hassle of taking his springs at his prices when you can get a full matching set for £200, and to change the front springs you got to take the shocks out, and they may come out easily but i had to cut mine out, in my honest opinion mate just but a new 2" lift kit :)

Better to go to Devon 4x4 or mail4x4 or similar and get a simple 2" lift kit with everything all in. You get warranty and if there's any hassle you deal with a shop and not a mate. Best all round for both parties

Take the opportunity to go to pin-to-pin mounts on the rear shocks as they articulate better and last longer

well he found out earlier of the guy who built the truck that there disco bearmach hd blues, if i buy them and a full set of procomp shocks it works out at £202 all in, that sort of money new would only buy me a britpart kit so i still think its worth doing as i dont make a lot of money and i have 265 75s going on soon

It costs £80 for a new set of 4 bearmach blues………leaving you £120 for shocks which is plenty and then you can move onto prop and arms when you have more cash if you're doing a proper lift

Pffttt well if you want to search on the most expensive 4x4 parts site around then yeah it will be £80 an axle! If you go on ebay theres a few sellers doing them at £56 per axle, in fairness I did get mine when they were on sale so it was £40 a pair so you could wait for another one but you don't need to get BM's the britpart yellows are good too

ah fair enough, thats just what came up when i googled them, well i will go away and consider my options i think, thanks for the advise guys
