***Update***
Hope everyone is feeling okay after last nights result!!
So the original 90 I was going to see the people are been difficult on price and not wanting to accept any offers until there ebay auctions runs out, in the meantime I maybe putting a deposit down on this 1997 90 300TDI County...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184932766345?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

Hopefully securing at just under £9k, plus having to arrange travel from Hull to Sussex, it looks a fairly straight defender underneath looks the far best I have sent (obviously cant tell until I see it in the flesh), pics of VIN numbers etc, not much rust coming through around the bulkheads/doors - original colour as well.
I dont think it would need much work - just some interior refinements - carpets/seats etc and then some new windows sticking on the side panels and get rid of that bloody subwoofer!!! Im getting some more pics/video of the underside and the engine running later today so I can update :)
Nice cup holder

That looks a lot better than that grey one, which quite frankly is a turd that has been polished.

As for your comment about welding being cheap, ask your welder mates what they think about welding old land rovers!

Thats 250 miles to one way to collect it, make sure you organise breakdown cover at least a week in advance, as Iirc there is a period in the first few days that you cannot use it, so lie and say yes it is your car, not that you are collecting it that day?
I have start rescue, way cheaper than the yellow and orange vans

LZIR put on notice?

Tbh regardless of cars make I would want cover in place for 500 mile trip, cost is peanuts in comparison to getting fleeced when its blowing a gale/****ing it down/on a blind corner.

You say that but did notice a couple get stranded in a 110 when an injector failed. Reported at 2100 to the RAC, truck finally arrived at 0600

Agreed this one looks a whole different world, not had any paint cover ups etc.
Not a fan of this rapto paint though!!

Underneath looks in decent nick - I cant see any major issues or previous repairs.
Has had a new rear on at some point though.

Spotted a couple of patches I think. but looks honest enough on the surface.

Is it being sold by a woman? dont be drawn in by looks:eek: you need to look underneath

the car:D.
Must have been flashed over at some point as the paint looks too tidy for an ‘L’ Plenty of oil underneath the usual areas :D

hi

have u looked on some of the Land Rover defender forums to see if there’s any for sale

must admit every time I’ve bought a vehicle have always checked the mot history and done a full Hpi check , been lucky as over the years I’ve learnt what to look for on certain land rovers, however when I bought my discovery 3 I didn’t know everything on what to look out for , so joined a discovery 3 forum and done a lot of research and asked plenty of questions

if ur still not sure of what to look for get an independent inspection done by either AA/ RAC or someone who knows that particular model very well

ref garages , indeed checked reviews on them online

Plse don’t think I’m trying to teach u how to suck eggs

Just hope that helps

Yes, Thats right. The initial move when purchasing a second hand car is to check its history first to know and get some idea of the life its had. It will also give the recorded mileage at each test and give some idea as to the real mileage it might have covered. rapidcarcheck.co.uk is very useful site for checking out vehicles history from my experience. I happen to have an extra code. Message me if you are interested?
