I park my speced up defender on the road outside my house. A few people have told me that it will be a high target for thieves, has anyone got any security tips please?

Immobiliser, alarm, disc steering lock , pedal box, fuel cut off switch and anything else you can afford. Put a siren inside the vehicle also so if it goes off the ****s won't want to get inside.park as close as poss to other cars so they can't Hiab it away.

Detachable steering wheel kill switches sad thing is if they want it they will have it you just got to make it as hard as poss

Buy yourself a sheet of 1/2" plywood and cut out the shape of a 6 foot tall well built man and place it near an upstairs window so that it's silhouette is visible from where your Landy is parked. The scum bags will look at your house before they touch the Landy and slink away. To make it more realistic move it to another window from time to time. If you can paint a realistic face on it and dress the upper half in an old jumper or coat all the better.

Fix it to ya model train set so it moves around anorl :D

on a serious note ya can buy Multi coloured flickering lamps that mimic the flickering of a TV screen. So it looks like the TV is on.

My mate in work has 63 plate 110, thing of beauty it is. We've thought of all the security devices we can but short of a garage, you're going to stuggle to stop a pro car thief. A tracker will only help get it back too! Disklok can be bent off, pedal lock cut. But both will give you time.
Buy a disco no fu**er will want it then :D

Sometimes it's easier to steal a vehicle from a garage than from outside, especially if the garage is not attached to the house. Reason is a lot of people don't lock their cars in their garage and the laziest buggers even leave the the key in the ignition.

Why are defenders so popular to steal in first place though? Is it just cause they are sought after vehicles that sell for a lot?

easy to strip and ring ,theres a large second hand parts market with so many old ones been repaired updated

Gang in sheff just been busted. They've been stealing them and swapping parts over then selling them on. Using V5's they've bought on Ebay.

Yeah I saw that in other thread! Not good to read at any time but even more so when I'm looking at getting a Landrover( a freelander to be precise which nobody wants to nick but that's not the point) :)

The best security device on mine is the fact it takes so long to start! I'd have time to get out of bed, put the kettle on, let thè dogs out, get my gun out the safe and start having pot shots out the window at the horrible thieving bastards.
So my advice is buy a shed
