Hi,

My second post so please go easy, can anybody tell me if there's any difference between a 95 Defender 90 rear wiper and later models? I've done a search but can't see anything.

Many thanks in advance, let the banter begin:)

yes and the wheel boxes are different on td5

Also be aware that some wiper motors offered on ebay do not include the internal cog and slider.
To cure mine a brush pack did nothing on it's own as cog had wear-picked up new motor complete with internals and cable and mounts new for £50
Also the wheel boxes have a tag that can be tapped with hammer and screw driver to remove slack-or if your wipers click.
End result is my wipers work even on a dry screen

Excellent cheers for the advice, another quickie, would a TD5 wiper motor work on a 95 Defender or is the wiring different?

suffering from stupid syndrome-You said rear  I was talking about front

what exactly is wrong with your "rear wiper motor?
if it's completely dead-check for power to it and the wires break in rubber flexible conduit or loom tends to rub through on body
(look behind rear lights under the wheel arch. Rubber cover presses loom into body seam)
Should be trim to stop loom/seam rubbing.

if you have power and it's slow
strip it, clean armature copper contacts with 600 grit wet and dry(spin inside wet and dry)
Stanley blade to remove any crap between copper contacts(gently)
Drop of oil on motor bushes
Grease mechanism
reassemble

Mine conked out, bought a new one, took the old one out and took it all apart and re-built it, re-sticking the magnets to the carcass wall (they had come loose) , works fine so now i have a spare!!! They are fiddly but basic to repair.

Great advice thanks chaps, I've not had time to investigate it fully yet, but will start with checking to see if it has power then work from there, will post on here when I've had a better look.

Many thanks.

PS in answer to your actual question, i think they are the same. I think i got a TD5 one to replace my 90 one - the connector is identical, the holes for connecting screws appear to be in the same place, the housing is the same, the spindle goes through the back door exactly the same, so i can't see why it would be any different!

I reckon yer magnets have come loose from the motor housing, in which case just araldite em back on!

Thanks Odenne, I'll do some fault finding ths weekend and try and gently take it apart to get a better look.

Now i'm a bit of a green-horn in these matters, but my disco TD5 rear wiper has never worked at all, can anyone advise as to what the problem might be, total replacement or repair blah blah blah.
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.
