I am about to start fitting a radio into my FFR 1995 Defender. Any suggestions as to what wires to break into. Need a permanent live for the radio memory and a live through the ignition for the power.
There's no handy wires behind the fuse box unless I drop them all out by unscrewing the fuse box.
Suggestions please?

Under the cover above the centre switch panel there are switched and permanent lives available.
There definitely are in civilian models, I am not sure of the wiring in the military versions, particularly the ffr which had all sorts of additional extras. Still would be wroth a check behind the panel.
Where are you mounting the radio, the centre option usually used is taken up by the light switch on the military version.

Nah, there was nothing there. Broke into the wiper wire in the end. Just finished and feeling pretty smug as I have built a cubby box and covered it in leatherette from an old bean bag. Mounted it on that. Radio cost £12 off ebay and it has blue tooth and phone... Bargain!. Speakers are mounted behind the seats on the frame that should would have the clansman radios mounted. Speakers cost £18 so all in all a cheap project that works a treat!
