Hi everybody, I'm looking into buying a 98 Defender County Hardtop whilst looking around it the other day I noticed it didn't have a wing mounted antenna, does anybody know if county's of that era were fitted with the rear window integrated antennas as standard. It's probably quite a trivial thing but I'm curious to know why a Defender would have one if not fitted as standard?
 
Mines roof mounted roughly above middle passenger seat - cable runs neatly behind roof lining and down passenger windscreen pillar
 
I converted a whip CB antenna which sits on the offside wing. I listen to Radio 4 and live in the mountains. Nothing worse than losing the signal when something is about to happen on 'The Archers'.

ahaha nothin better than the archers to break up the **** played on radio 1 these days, how did you convert the cb radio antenna?

I suppose 'converting' is bigging it up a bit much.. I really just adapted the coaxial to fit the connection at the base of the arial. Works a treat though.
 
Thanks everybody, found the aerial tucked nicely in the offside rear corner of the engine compartment, when previous owner had chequer plate fitted to wings he didn't bother drilling a hole in it for the aerial to go through!?
