Hi can you put a disco r380 into a defender and change the gearstick round the right way if so how do you do this. And is it easy thanks.

You gotta change the linkage on the top and swap the bell housing over. then it should work. Not very easy to swap the linkages over i dont believe

You do not need to change the bell housing, where do people keep getting this idea from?

You either change the disco selector shaft for a defender one as the defender one is longer, or knock up an extension to save stripping the box.

Is there any other gearboxs that will fit onto a 300tdi

Im finding it hard to find a second hand one and i dont want to spend £500 for a recon then even more on getting it fitted so thought there may be another option unless u know of any r380 knocking round

I recently acquired a good used Defender R380 quite cheaply on eBay. They are around, you just need to keep an eye open. Much easier to change your box with a like-for-like replacement, rather than ****ing around with a Disco one. Jmho
