you could always make the tailgate hinged like a door with a lock and just mount a standard rear door carrier on it

It was suggested earlier in the thread, but the door is a “multipurpose Swiss army door”. It doubles up as a table, workbench...etc.

Would an index plunger work, see they do all different type of designs

Don’t know if it possible to use in of these to drill a hole on the current pin so it can’t come undone

Just an idea

Thats what I want to avoid. I forgot the carabina which let it fly open, i want shut and forget.

I did find this by Masai, anyone used it? Any good?

- may be a bit annoying as it fits differently to the carrier I have so Ill have extra holes :(

Also found a potentially good latch that may work.

I bet that Masai jobbie is a horrid thing to live with long term, it'll rattle and shake like mad on rough lanes as it's not sprung loaded or positively latched.

Cant imagine its any worse than the current one. Gotta remember im quite separated from the rear end in the double cab.

What it looks like is a level that locks open or locks closed, no more annoying than an antiluce, pushing the tyre in to lock it and a carrabina!

I cant see it lasting very long with a huge wheel dangling off it either, gonna bounce about til a weld cracks I'd guess
