@Radiant

Hi

May i ask what is the driving age in Austria plse because ur profile says ur only 15 , if it’s the usual 17 , it might be better to wait until you’ve passed ur test first

When u do come to decide what landy and begin to travel , don’t forget ease of repair and parts

Also believe in certain countries u have to be a min age to get visas and licences
yes its 17, and i will only but one just before my birthday but i am already now starting t look into the options.
whilst being 17 i can only drive in 4 EU countries, but with 18 i am unrestricted worldwide.

Disco 3 gets my vote..

Or a TDV8 L322, i know @gstuart will be wanting one soon ;) They're getting cheaper, wink wink ;)

Bloody 'ell doesn't insurance exist where you're from!!

I've go my 38a but i doubt i'll be able to drive it much before 25!!

Or i'll just watch it disintegrate :(

i am put in mith my mums insurance, so its basically insured with her and thats why i get it for her price even though the insurance is in my name.

22mpg 13.0 liters per 100 kilometers
to 35mpg or 8.0 liters per 100 kilometers

Depends on where and how you drive..

why is there a difference between where and when i drive them? arent they virtually the same? same chassis, same engine?

Town or city driving will use more fuel, naturally.

Motorway or freeway driving will get you more MPG because speed, acceleration and throttle input is constant.

LR's aren't they cheapest to run, obviously when you also wade in the maintenance and repair..

D3 gets my vote, its still quite a complicated car, but its the easiest of the modern LR models, excluding the defender of course.

gstuart is clued up in 2.7 and D3 problems and info best to wiat for him to come around! ;)

Thks

I’ve done a buyers guide for the D3 so indeed gives u a better insight

https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/buyers-guide.312800/

If I was going to very remote places I would be tempted to get a D2 , alas they suffer from chassis issues but the spare money u have could re chassis one and really have a superb vehicle

As u could get one now and then spend the next 2 x years fixing it up till ur 17 and pass ur test

Just a thought

Ah i see, are u able to re chassis a vehicle or is that not allowed, maybe the emissions restrict u

Indeed was just a thought, as if ur going to remote places it’s being able to repair it and get parts

Are u allowed to work on vehicles urself or does it have to be an approved garage

Thks

we can work on our cars ourselves, but changing a chassis etc is much to expensive. youll probably end up paying more for the "typisierung" which basically makes it legal.

something simple as putting in a different air intake makes it illegal if it isnt a tested part and if you dont have it "typisiert"

yes. most peoples cars are illegal not gonna lie tho, nearly everyone changes somethere so stuff does get tolerated. but if you for instance hit someone and your air intake is not stock youre gonna be paying that person medical fees for the rest of their life.

Get yourself a Freelander 2. Same as a range rover just cheaper. SD4 auto option would be better for towing. Less complex to fix. Cheaper to fix.

the thing with the freelander here is, i pay the same insurance as a rr or a disco 4. plus i didnt enjoy driving ours as i felt it seems more like a vw polo too drive.
plus, they pretty much cost around 8-15 k, which is my budget but i could get a "nicer car" for that money.

get a 30 year old defender and realise you have bought a truck that moses went up Sinai to get the tablets (his mrs had a headache apparently)
