Hi people does anyone no where mileage is stored in a defender td5 in the ecu or is it on the clocks, I only ask because I wonder who easy they can be clocked?

Clock stores its mileage, you can clock them up using a drill and transfer box sender (and wires/power supply) or use a pulse generator. Don't think you can clock it down without some sophisticated eprom loading kit (and a lot of knowledge) but there are companies that claim to do mileage 'corrections'. I suspect the easiest way would be to replace with a lower mileage speedo.

It's in the clocks as said they can be clocked down though by taking apart and reprogramming the chip. I need to get mine done but not been able recently, there's a company that 'corrects' them for 80 quid or a guy on lr4x4 who does it for like 20. Alot easier to raise than lower if you have a drill to burn though

If your are ever worried about mileage reading check MOT history on the DVLA site, it gives the mileage at every MOT, a reduced mileage on an MOT will show it has had mileage adjusted or new speedo fitted. It only takes a minute to do.
