I just picked up a defender 90 on an lt77 box, all really good except its really difficult to go into gear
especially coming down the box into 2nd, other than that the box shows no sigh of milage any ideas guys

Probably worn baulk ring, But do change the fluid [ check what comes out for bits ] A change of fluid will help [ you don't know what is in there, could be wrong stuff ] Also give it a tad of more time on the change, a blip change [ pause and blip throttle ] as you go down can help an old box keep going.

Good I will drain it out and see, I have come across one with ep90 in the gearbox before
the only other thing I'm thinking is someone has badly fitted one of those short shifts and need some adjustment, as the shifts do seem like they are on top of each other
Best Regards

filter ... what filter in the LT77

have never changed mine since i owned it...oops

best see if i can find it.

Does the R380 have a filter as well ?

undo the 15/16 /24mm plug on bottom of the rear case, drain oil first

Thanks James. will have a look on the 90 when i get the front timing case and its ancillaries back together. an then get it on the ramp for its winter tyre change.

Hopefully tomorrow

I have a similar issue in third with my LT77 and it got worse after a an oil and filter change. BTW the filter sits above the drain bolt ;)

I can't go from 3rd to second on mine, but I've never needed to so it doesn't really matter
