hiya , only have one key and alarm fob for my 2008 defender, if I can source / programme an alarm fob can I just get a key cut to use for the ignition or is there a transponder in the key as well

Our works 2007 Defender if I remember correctly is just a plain key (looks like the old Morris/Leyland type key) with a remote fob...the remote fob contains the transponder for the imobbiliser.

My key has rectangular handle with two wings running down the edges , I have tried with a sharp blade but it doesn't appear to open up
