Try Glynwood insurance, insure both my landies through them, dirt cheap, Found AF expensive for Landies but ok for my classic mini?? Wierd??

Ah right...

I don't think there is an age limit, cos when I was 17 (2004), I was running Mini's under Classic Insurance. Granted that it was with limited mileage tho (7k/annum).

When we were your age we had to pay high rates. There's a old saying; When you want to dance you have to pay the band first.

Well, Insurance companies are technically advising you to drive around with no insurance with those ridiculous quotes.

Try getting quotes with you has the named driver on your Mum's insurance. Can you get another 30 year old + adult on there as well, like ya Dad for example? The more elders you have on there, the cheaper it generally is!

I would say Good Luck but Luck is not what you need, a Lottery win would be useful or a rich uncle....

insuring anything other than a ****box corsa, clio, 106 etc at 17 is completely unaffordable!

Something which can reduce the premium is to effectively make it your second vehicle. Buy the cheapest and nastiest road legal (MOT etc) moped you can find. Insure that as well as the Landie with the same company. Ask them for "Road Traffic Act" cover only which some insurers do offer, failing that, Third party only. Park it in the shed never to let it see the light of day again.

I do this with 2 cars, my daily drive Rangie, my "don't give a ****" Trooper and my motorcycle. On the basis that I can't be using all 3 at once I pay the going rate (510 quid a year Fully Comp) on the RR, 61 quid a year on the Trooper (TP only) and 181 quid a year (Fully Comp) on the bike. That's with Swiftcover. (AXA Insurance)

All defenders are classed as "light utility", so I got myself some van insurance, was just under £1200 for me with my dad on the documents as owner and keeper plus me added on, best/cheapest way (only passed my test 2 month ago, was 17 too), tough though, good luck
