I live in Oregon, and am thinking about shipping a Defender cross country from the east coast. Unfortunately if I do this I would have to fly out to inspect the vehicle before purchase, and that would waste alot of money if I decided it wasnt the right vehicle. Ive heard that you can hire vehicle inspectors to do pre purchase vehicle inspections for you. Are these inspections less expensive than a cross country flight? And ontop of that do you have any inspector recommendations on the east coast?

East coast as in Norfolk? As they've got six fingers they should be good at inspecting stuff:D

RAC or AA will do an inspection of a vehicle, it's a couple of hundred quid iirc.

Whether they know land rovers well enough to check properly for rust etc I don't know.

You may be better tasking an independent to find you a good importable one. They can find and inspect etc I would have thought.

Someone reputable like gumtree 4x4, gigglepin, blanchards - there are others these are just ones off the top of my head as an example - I don't know if they will offer the sort of service your looking for but an email to ask won't hurt

Yeah i know, but most of the american site's have poor setup and you get minimal feedback on your threads, thanks for the help though

Where are you looking? I've got a mechanic cousin in
Connecticut, he'd be happy to help [I think!]

Ask someone on here to have a look and pay them to go and have a look as you would get an honest answer to whether it was any good.
