simple answer is no it aint, easy enough to get it out but youl have to take the wing vent off to allow the intake pipe to move plus the washer bottle and bracket. also control cables for heater and the hoses (if you fold them back on them selves and tuck in on bulkhead you wont loose to much water)
2x 13mil captive bolts at top of unit and 2x 10mm bolts at bottom.
just hoik it out then and jobs good un

To be perfectly honest the heater-box comes out easy enough so why bother, you could be making life harder for yourself?
As far as I recall it is only the washer bottle, 4-bolts, the intake duct, operating cables and the electrical connector and that is it, the heater-box off.

Not a major job just sometimes fiddly.
You dont need to disconnect the hoses . Just got to take out the nuts for the box so that it will move and give you better access.
You'll have to remove the washer bottle and intake duct.
Moight be worth getting new foams while you have it all off.

Good point, I forgot to add that.
Your old foam seals WILL be old & crispy which means that they will not make a good seal (especially after being disturbed) and will allow cold air in through the gaps. Order some new ones today.
While you have the heater-box out make sure the matrix is clear, if it looks suspect or is rattling around in the heater-box take it out and replace / re-seal it. Once again a good seal is necessary to ensure all the air gets channeled through the matrix and not around it.
When you put it all back together you can make sure the control-cables are adjusted correctly and get the benefit of a decent heater.

I just finished installing a bilge blower [ someone suggested this ages ago and I forgot about it until mine burned out ] I could do a little post on it if I knew what size photies we can post, follows on from Buster's photos.

Buster , would it be in order to post my photos of the refitting of the heating with a bilge blower? They follow on from the empty space shown in your detail of removing the box and I would hate to cause offence by butting in to your territory.

Hello All and Happy New Year 2023, I know it's been a while since I was on and needless to say she's had a few changes and upgrades since, anyway and hopefully I can get some help. I have to replace my heater motor 'coz I sure aint drivin around in this cold without heat, so I just can\t remember if I need to remove the air intake duct from the wing as well.

Well , having removed the heater unit we discovered the fan was working after all when connected to a 12v battery, but not when connected on the loom. Question was what was causing that problem. We checked all the connections for continuity and they seemed ok. I removed the glass fuse to check it closer up and discovered it looked a little burnt or corroded on one end, replaced it and whadya know - all is working fine. So having removed and distroyed all the seals I will replace them asap and get back on the road. As an aside I discovered a little bit of rusted panel on the edge of the footwell by the wing so that'll get sealed now and mysteriously, 2 nut & bolts lying on the joiner bracket between wing and footwell, you just never know !!!

Well done. I’m looking to put my heater box back in as the previous owner removed it. Think it might be harder than a like for like replacement as I have nothing to go on but will let you know.
