would love to hear peoples points views and ideas on this

ok so the bane of some landy owners life is the heater, not the best in the world
i know, some peoples are better than others but hay ho mines not that good

any way i do a lot of work with WOLF LR's and it wasn't until recently i noticed that they kick out a lot more hot air out of the blowers than my LR my mates and a fair few others i jumped in.

so a grabbed a normal 12 volt heater blower and put 24 volts through it and it nearly blow me out the work shop.

these are the combinations i tried

12v motor with 12v input stranded nothing special

12v motor with 24v input awesome

24v motor with 12v felt just like the 12volt blower with 12volt input

24v motor with 24v input awesome

does any one know if the motors are the same???

so i think with a little more testing i am going to find a way to put 18-24volts through my blower so i can drive around in my pants

If the motor int rated to take 24v then it shouldn't be powered oft 24v. If it's 12v then that's all it should be powered from. May work for the time being but later on it won't like it.

Howd you

As the OP hasn't been on LZ since 2013 I don't think you will get an answer from him. Don't think 24v motor cures the issue, if it did everyone would be raving about it (and they are not). A defender heater can be made to work reasonably well (my 300 one does). Need to make sure engine is running at the correct temp, don't trust LR gauge as they are useless. My original sat at mid position which I thought was fine until I fitted a VDO gauge / sender which actually indicated 70 degrees. Ended up that Tstat was stuck open, fitted new one and temp read 90 and heater actually works well. Also go around and sort out all drafts and seals as that helps too.
