the ones i have seen are 1/14" 30mm long. never wrap fuses in foil.

Can i ask - does anything electrical work?
Or is everything dead?
Looking at my manual for 1986 diesel models the live from the battery goes straight to the starter motor and it supplies most things from there!
You could check and see if you are getting 12v at the starter motor - should be a heavy BROWN wire

never wrap fuses in foil.
what he said, if you do, and there is a problem, your wiring loom will become the fuse, overheat and quite possibly barbecue your landy

You still havent told us what the actual symptoms are e.g. is it turning over at all? Is it just clicking away when you try to start? Or do you get absolutely nothing.
Remember that in engines that old there is no electrickery to speak of as such (always a good thing in my opinion) so diagnosing the problem should be made a bit easier
